23-Year-Old Delhi Medical Student of MAMC Reported Dead, Investigation Ongoing 

MAMC Delhi Medical Student Suicide Case Updates: A final-year medical student from the Maulana Azad Medical College situated in Delhi capital committed suicide in the college’s hostel room today 6 February 2024. 

The college authority reported the police head of the student’s death at around 1:30 a.m. on the night of 6 February 2024. 

A senior police officer mentioned that they had taken over the custody of the student’s body and sent it for the autopsy and postmortem, “No suicide note was found in the hostel room” they added.

According to the Times of India news authority, the student was a 23-year-old girl who belonged to Dwarka city in Gujrat, she was currently pursuing MBBS from MAMC college in Delhi and was recently posted to the surgery department in the Lok Nayak Hospital. 

She recently visited her home and came back from there on 4 February 2024, Sunday, and as per her fellow mates, she didn’t seem depressed and was acting normal when she came from home. 

Police Statements on the Delhi Medical Student Suicide Case

As the police started interrogating the college authority and other batch mates of the student they got to know that the girl didn’t come out of her room the day before the incident. 

One of her batchmates noticed her missing and went to her room and knocked on the door, after some time when there was no response they reported the college authority. The authority broke open the door and found her hanging on the ceiling fan. 

Police proceeded with the investigation among her friends & batchmates, one of her friends told police “She even brought a home-cooked meal for us when she returned from home and no changes were seen in her behavior, what happened unthinkably”.

Another friend added, “She always had a smile on her face and was always very helpful, I can never imagine what could it be she was going through that pushed her to take this step”. 

The police officials stated that the girl was a bright student, polite, and believed in always keeping forward & helping others. 

Meanwhile, the reason for the student’s suicide is still not clear even after questioning her family and other friends. The police investigation is ongoing.
