On Tuesday, the education minister of HP, Mr Rohit Thakur said in reply to a BJP MLA, that “51 school buildings in various districts of Himachal Pradesh were destroyed and 1,057 other buildings were partially damaged during the monsoon season this year” in the HP assembly question hours.

Further, the education minister added that the state has suffered from a loss of 69.27 crore due to heavy rains this year.

In response to a question from BJP MLA Vinod Kumar during Question Hour, Rohit Thakur stated that the completely damaged buildings would be rebuilt as soon as possible, and for that, the department has requested additional funds for this purpose.

The construction of partially damaged buildings would be done in a phased manner, the minister said in response to a supplementary question from opposition leader Mr Jai Ram Thakur as these schools have a total of 19,101 students and the conduction of classes in these buildings is quite risky for students.

In response to a question, public works minister Vikramaditya Singh said “the Parwanoo Industrial Area in Solan district would be connected to National Highway 5, and a Detailed Project Report (DPR) with an estimated cost of Rs 2.62 crore is being developed”.

Revenue Minister Jagat Singh Negi informed members that 752 cases involving the provision of two or three ‘biswa’ lands to landless people for them to build homes were still pending which includes 273 cases in Una district, 217 cases in Mandi, 114 in Solan, 42 in Chamba, 39 in Bilaspur, 36 in Kullu, 14 in Kinnaur, 12 in Shimla, and 5 cases in Kangra.
