The National Medical Commission on September 27 notified a new set of rules for medical education & profession.
The National Medical Commission has notified the new rules for medical institutions & profession to keep the quality of medical education in check.
If a medical college is found violating the new rules, a fine of Rs 1 crore per violation could be imposed.
A penalty of Rs 5 lakh can be imposed if the faculty/dean/director is found submitting false declarations/documents or records.
The faculty/HOD/dean/director can be charged under Registered Medical Practitioner (Professional Conduct) Regulations.
Medical colleges failing to comply with the statutory provisions and regulations may lose their accreditation for 5 years.
Boards to scrutinize colleges annual reports for facilities, staff, and patient diversity.
