The petitions against the Agnipath Programme of the federal government were considered by the Delhi High Court on December 15, 2022.
The Delhi High Court had reserved its decision at the December hearing and requested that the parties involved submit their arguments by December 23 in order for the court to be closed for the winter holidays.
The Delhi High Court has declared on December 15, 2022, that the court cannot remark on which plan is preferable to determine the military strategy.
Delhi High Court remarked, “Experts have created the Agnipath Plan, and we are not the experts.
The petitioners had stated that the Agnipath Program is “illegal and unconstitutional.” ASG Aishwarya Bhati spoke on behalf of the Union Government and defended the plan.
According to the Center’s justifications, the Agnipath scheme’s structural adjustments were made to lower the average age of the Indian Armed Forces.
According to the Center, one goal of the Agnipath Plan was to lower the average age of recruits to the armed forces from 32 to 26 years old.
