Bihar School Timings Changed: Bihar Chief Minister Mr. Nitish Kumar on Tuesday, 20 February 2024 announced that the school timings in all the government-aided schools in Bihar will be changed.

CM Nitish Kumar stated that the school timings which were previously scheduled for 8 hours i.e. from 9 AM to 5 PM in all the government schools of Bihar will now be reduced to 6 hours i.e. from 10 AM to 4 PM from session 2024 onwards.

Adding to this, Nitish Kumar stated in an assembly meeting that the government schools in Bihar were functioning for 8 hours for a long time, but this was wrong “Ye Galat Hai” should not be from 9 AM to 5 PM.

CM Nitish Kumar also stated that in November last year, the education department issued the new timings for the government schools in Bihar, and it came into effect on December 1, 2023.

Later on, it came to light that rather than providing details of school timings to the government schools, the guidelines specified the disciplinary measures against teachers for not following the new timetable.

Addressing the delay in rectifying the situation, CM Nitish Kumar said “I will immediately call the competent officer from the school education department and will direct them to change the Bihar government schools timings from 9 AM to 5 PM to 10 AM to 4 PM.
