CBSE Class 9 Books Introduce Chapter On Dating & Relationships, Explain “Ghosting” & “Catfishing”

CBSE Board 2024 Class 9 Latest Updates: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has included chapters on dating and relationships in the books of value addition of class 9  including topics like ghosting, catfishing, and cyberbullying.

On Thursday, 1 February 2024, a post on Twitter went viral showing a chapter on “Dating and Relationship: understanding yourself and the other person” in a class 9th book of value education of the CBSE board’s curriculum.

The books on ‘Value Education’ have been a part of the CBSE’s school curriculum for a long time. These books not only provide value such as honesty, respect, empathy, and responsibility but also help in developing thinking skills, decision-making, and social awareness.

In addition, topics like crushes and special friends are also included in the chapter, which was introduced by the CBSE to aid teens in transiting through emotions and dealing with the important milestones of their lives.

Student’s Reactions To ‘Dating and Relationship’ Chapter In CBSE Class 9 Books 

Many students, parents and other people appreciated the decision of the CBSE board to understand students’ mental and emotional feelings by including these types of chapters in the CBSE curriculum.

Some people find this initiative good, but some of them stated, “The recent addition of a chapter in class 9th textbook on dating and relationships by #CBSE has caused some concerns. While the intention behind this move may be good, any topic added to the curriculum must be widely accepted and understood by society”.

Another ‘X’ user wrote that “times are changing, people start dating from a very young age nowadays, it’s amazing if the system accepts this and includes topics like these in the curriculum. Helping kids understand these complex dynamics is far better than how dating was treated back in our days.

“I hope the teachers are going through such chapters and not brushing it off as they did with the reproduction one in school”.
