Chhattisgarh School Girl Accuses Teacher For Harassment, Commits Suicide

Chhattisgarh School Girl Suicide Case Updates: A class 6 student in Chhattisgarh committed suicide on 6 February 2024 by hanging herself to the ceiling fan, during the investigation a suicide note was found in her room. 

As per the police officials, the girl mentioned in the suicide note that one of her teachers at the school was harassing her and her friends. 

The deceased was a resident of the Darripara area under Manipur police station limits and was currently studying at a private school in Chhattisgarh. 

In the suicide note written in English, the girl mentioned that the teacher had snatched the ID card of her and her two friends. She got scared and took her life.

“The forensics team collected evidence from the girl’s room and the post-mortem was conducted. Statements from the girl’s parents, other students, and teachers were also recorded by the police, and the suicide note was sent to examine by the experts”, said the police officials. 

The girl mentioned in the suicide note, “My friends told me that she (the teacher) is dangerous and she will take you to the headmistress and also call your parents. I was scared and decided to kill myself”. 

Further stated, “Please save my friends from punishment” in the suicide note she wrote before committing suicide. 

The girl’s father is a government officer and he was on a two-day visit to Raipur, he mentioned to police that he talked to his daughter on video call at 6:30 p.m. on the day of the incident and she didn’t mention anything. 

He also said that his daughter was also harassed by a teacher when she was in nursery class, another teacher thrashed her after he spoke to the school authority. 

“She (deceased) stopped telling about the harassment as whenever parents speak to teachers over some issue the next day teachers take revenge and torture students” he added.

On 7 February 2024, Wednesday, the police arrested the teacher that the girl accused of harassment. The teacher is booked under the Indian Penal Code 305 “Abetment of Suicide of Child”.
