State Union Minister Responded
Sarkar responded that there is no hard evidence that the CUET is affecting candidates.
The opposition also claimed that since CUET was implemented, schooling fees have increased.
Sarkar added that Graduation fees have increased as a result of the students’ ability to submit applications to multiple universities using a single application and fee.
It has resulted in savings on the expense and labour associated with obtaining university admission.
Sarkar stressed the scope of the CUET exams in defence of the government, stating that the challenges and postponement were brought on by geo-climatic factors.
He noted that 14,90,293 candidates took the CUET and that they applied to 54,555 different subject combinations at 90 universities.
He went on to use the admissions procedure at Delhi University as an example of how the academic year started earlier this year.
In the previous three years, the deadline dates for admissions at the University of Delhi were as follows: 31.08.2019 (2019–20), 15.01.2021 (2020–2021), and 31.12.2021 (2021-22).
A group of experts, comprised of professors from the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) and other central universities, was also established, according to Sarkar, to make recommendations for how to carry out the CUET in the upcoming years.
With 14.9 lakh registrations for undergraduate admissions across all central universities, CUET overtook JEE-Mains to become the second-largest entrance exam in the nation.
