Delhi School Winter Vacations 2024 Updates: As the pollution level steadily increases in the national capital Delhi, this is a matter of concern. The Delhi government is expected to start the winter vacations for all the government and private schools early.

The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) on 22nd December 2023 released a daily AQI level for all the states in India and it has been found that Delhi is experiencing the highest AQI level.

The government has previously announced the Delhi winter school breaks from 1 January 2024 to 6 January 2024 due to severe air pollution. The vacation has already been reduced from 15 to 6 days. 

As per the PIB press release, the state government may also decide to discontinue physical classes for the schools and start virtual classes from January 2024 as the air quality decreases day by day. 

AQI Level Of Delhi In December 2023

The Air Quality Index (AQI) level in Delhi has decreased a lot in December 2023. On 22 December 2023, the AQI level in Delhi was recorded as 409 at 4:00 p.m. and was stated as “Severe”. In many areas of the capital, the AQI has remained more than 400 in the past few weeks. 

An Air Quality Index (AQI) range is defined as good, satisfactory, moderate, poor, very poor, and severe respectively for values between 0-50, 51-100, 101-200, 201-300, 301-400, and 401-500.

As per the weather forecast, it is expected that the capital may witness light rainfall in the next two days which may improve the air quality. The Air Quality Early Warning System has mentioned that the air quality on 24 December 2023 will get worse.
