The national testing agency (NTA) has started the JEE Main 2024 registration from 1 November, 2023. The candidates are also informed that the last date for registration is 30 November. Age Limit for JEE Mains 2024

There’s good news! For all the JEE aspirants. There is no age limit for JEE Main 2024. This means you can appear for the exam irrespective of your age. 

Year of Passing Class 12th

Students who passed their class 12th exams in 2022, 2023, or are appearing in 2024 are eligible for JEE Main 2024. This simply means if you finished your 12th class this year, last year, or are going to finish it next year, you can take the exam without any worries.

Attempt Limit for JEE Main

Subjects in Class 12th

Candidates appearing in JEE Main 2024 need to have studied at least five subjects in class 12th. Among these, Physics and Mathematics are a must. The third subject can be any one of Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology, or Technical Vocational. The other two are your choice. 

Minimum Marks in Class 12th

For the JEE Main 2024, there is no minimum percentage requirement to appear in the exam. However, for admissions into the Institutes of Technology (IITs), National Institutes of Technology (NITs), Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs), and Government Funded Technical Institutes (GFTIs), you need to score at least 75% marks or be in the top 20 percentile of your board. If you belong to the SC/ST category, the minimum mark requirement is 65%.

The candidates also required to pass in each subject in the qualifying exam or class 12th.

What is JEE Main 2024 75% Criteria?

JEE Main 2024 75% eligibility criteria is only applicable for admission to NITs, IITs, IIITs & CFTI’s. That means if you are looking for admission in these colleges, then you must have 75% marks in class 12th. If you are an SC/ST student then you have to score a minimum 65% marks in class 12th for admission to these institutions.

Are Diploma Students Eligible for JEE Main 2024?

If you have done a 3-year diploma instead of class 12th, you can still give JEE Main. This is cool because it means that even if you took a slightly different path in education, you can still dream of an engineering career. However, remember that you can only get admission into IITs, for which you have to clear the JEE Advanced.

Number of Subjects in Class 12th for B. Arch Course

For JEE Main Paper 2A (BArch)- Candidates must have Physics, Chemistry, and Maths as compulsory subjects in class 12.

Number of Subjects in Class 12th for B. Planning Course

For those dreaming of a B.Planning course i.e. JEE Main paper 2 (B), the criteria is slightly different. You should have Mathematics as a subject in the 12th class. Even Commerce and Arts stream students can apply if they have Mathematics as a subject.

Are Reservations Applicabe in the JEE Exam 2024?

Yes, as with most exams in India, there are reservations for different categories:

  – OBC-NCL: 27%

  – SC: 15%

  – ST: 7.5%

  – PwD (Persons with Disabilities): 5% in each category

  – Economically Weaker Sections (EWS): 10%

What is the State of Eligibility in JEE Main 2024?

This is mainly for states/UTs that use JEE Main ranks for their own admissions. Your state of eligibility will be the one where you passed your class 12th. If you studied in an Indian school located abroad, your state of eligibility will be the one where you have your permanent address in India.

  1. Speaking of the 75% criteria, do we need 75% overall in class 12th or just the 3 subjects Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics?

    1. The 75% for admission to IITs, NITS, CFTIS will be added from Physics Chemistry Mathematics, and any other two subjects.
