Nagaland Board Of School Education Cancelled Mid-Term Exam For Class 8 & 9

NBSE Cancels Class 8, 9 Mid-Term Exam 2024: The Nagaland Board of School Education, Kohima on 16 January 2024, announced that all the NBSE affiliated schools will no longer going to conduct the mid-term examination for classes 8 and 9 from 2024 onwards.

The official notice issued by the NBSE Kohima was released on its official website @nbsenl.edu.in, states that all the registered schools under Nagaland Board of School Education are advised to follow the strict compliance that there will be no mid-term examinations for classes-Vlll and IX from academic session 2024.

Further, the official notice stated “ that in lieu of the mid-term examinations for class 8 and 9, phase-I and phase-Il examinations shall be conducted on the dates specified in the academic calendar 2024”.

The decision is taken by the NBSE Kohima, to gain more teaching days and to shift towards the semester-structured pattern of secondary education as mentioned in the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.

The notice regarding the cancellation of class 8 and 9 mid-term examinations from the 2024 session in the schools of Nagaland, Kohima was issued by the Nagaland Board of School Education on its official website.

This was done to prefer the semester-based education system as directed by the New Education Policy (NEP) 2020.

The board also stated that instead of mid-term exams, the phase 1 and phase 2 exams will be conducted by every school.

Further, all institutions are to enter the marks of class 8 and 9 students for the phase 1 and 2 examination in the PCR (Pupil Cumulative Record) as:-

  • Phase-I marks will be recorded under the first evaluation column.
  • Phase-Il marks in the second evaluation column.
  • At last, the consolidated marks of Phase-I & II shall be entered in the third evaluation column.

The NBSE official notice, also stated that a student is required to secure the minimum passing marks in the phase 1 and phase 2 examinations in order to be promoted to the higher class.
