“Assam TET Exam will not be conducted for Upper Primary or Lower Primary for the next 2 years. The vacancies can be filled by those who have already cleared the exam” Pegu said.

Further, the state government will now consider Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) scores to recruit teachers in government schools.

Assam TET Examination is organised to check the eligibility of aspirants in the teaching field.

In the past two years, those who cleared the Assam DElEd exam can participate in the CTET Exam instead of Assam TET, he added.

After this announcement, a few students requested the government to reconsider the decision as most of the candidates are preparing for the Assam TET Exam.

Recently, the minister informed that 2,900 schools in the state are run by single teachers. He also stated that each of 15,161 educational institutes is managed by two teachers & 8,207 are three-teacher schools.

All these were primary schools & there were no secondary-level educational institutes in these categories, the PTI quoted Ranoj Pegu.

However, CTET-qualified candidates will now be able to apply for jobs from this year onwards. Candidates who have already passed will be able to apply for open positions, Pegu said. Many candidates have already passed the exam against the vacant seats.

Many youths are expecting to get a job after clearing their TET. Most job seekers have prepared for the examination. So the State Union Secretary has appealed to the government to re-think about the decision.

Now, the CTET Result will be accepted by the state government for hiring teachers for public schools.

Last year, 16,000 TET-qualified candidates were appointed by the month of June. The CM made the announcement during the budget session.

However, the CM had said that clearing TET doesn’t mean that they have been recruited as teachers.
