NTA Denies JEE Main 2024 Scorecard Errors, Explains Normalisation Process

After an increase of disappointment and unhappiness among JEE candidates, the National Testing Agency has officially responded to the concerns expressed by candidates over mistakes in the JEE Main 2024 session 1 scorecard and the percentile calculation in response.

JEE Main 2024 session 1 paper 1 result was released on 13 February 2024 in the early morning around 3 Am on the official website at jeemain.nta.acin and along with the result NTA also released a notice with all the data regarding candidate distribution for the exam.

On 16 February 2024 NTA through their official X account @NTA_Exams said “The result of the JEE(Main)- 2024 Session 1 was declared on 12 Feb 2023 in which the date/shift on the examination was randomly allotted by the computer as per the normalization process.” “It was ensured that each shift was equally distributed in terms of candidate count, gender, and category”.

As per the data made available by NTA over Twitter, the total number of male and female candidates who appeared for the session 1 paper 1 exam on 27,29,30, 31 January and 1 February is 1,221,624 however the JEE Main official notice says that 1,221624 is the total number of candidates registered for JEE Main 2024 session and number of appeared candidates is 1170048 including third gender.

To express their thoughts and concerns, JEE Main 2024 candidates even tagged the National Testing Agency (NTA), the Education Ministry, the Office of the Prime Minister of India, Dharmendra Pradhan, the Minister of Education, and the Minister of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, the Government of India.

JEE aspirants have commented on NTA’s post that “I think this data is not correct as there is no third gender and still its total is 1221624 which is total registered candidates. Where are those 9 third-gender candidates?”
