JNV 2023 Admission Update

Previously, the Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS) conducted a Lateral Entry Selection Test (LEST) for admission to lateral entry seats in Class 9 of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNVs). For JNV Class 11 admissions, students who had passed the Class 10 exam from the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), state board, and other recognized boards in the district where a JNV is located were eligible to apply. The previous eligibility criteria required students to be within the age limit of 15-17 years as on July 1 of the year of admission. Students were also required to have a “reasonable” competency in English and Hindi languages.

The selection of students for JNV Class 11 admissions was based on the merit list prepared by NVS. The merit list was prepared on the basis of marks obtained by the applicants in Class 10 board exams and the availability of seats in the concerned JNVs. The merit list was then published on the official website of the NVS.

However, with the new decision of NVS, a selection test will now be conducted for lateral entry admission to Class 11 in JNVs from the academic session 2023-24 onwards. This is being done to fill the vacant seats in the JNVs across India. The selection test will be conducted in July 2023, and interested candidates can apply for the same through online mode.
