The University Grant Commission (UGC) is the regulatory body under the ministry of education to provide recognition to the universities in India. Eligibility Criteria for Admission in Top Universities of India
The eligibility criteria varies from university to university and depend upon the programme one is opting for admission. For B.Tech and M.Tech the admission is offered on the basis of JEE Mains & GATE scores. Some universities also admit students on the basis of state level or university specific entrance exams like VITEEE, SRMJEEE etc.
- For applied sciences, humanities, law & commerce programmes the admission is offered on the basis of CUET UG and CUET PG scores.
The eligibility criteria for the top universities accepting CUET 2024 score: - Students must be the citizen of India
- For UG courses, candidates must have passed class 12th or equivalent examination from a recognised board of school education.
- Candidates who failed in one or two subjects of Class 12th will not be considered eligible to apply for CUET 2024

Admission Process
The admission in UG and PG programmes of central universities is done on the basis of CUET UG & CUET PG exam. The Central University Entrance Test (CUET) is conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) every year for admission to participating CU’s, Private and many other state universities.
The Admission process in the top ranked universities varies from programme to programme. For admission to UG B.tech programmes candidates have to appear in JEE Main, state level or any other university level exam like VITEEE.
Admission process start with registration followed by entrance test and then counselling process. Seats are allocated to the candidates as per their score/rank in the entrance test like CUET, JEE Main etc.
