UGC Guidelines Changes in classrooms, evaluation & teaching the commission recommends – For the development of students, the UGC Guidelines have been issued including the change in classrooms and evaluation.

After the Covid 19 Pandemic, Schools & colleges adopted different teaching modes – online, offline & blended. The UGC said that there is a need to implement appropriate changes to avoid gaps in the teaching & learning process.

The guidelines have been introduced in line with the National Education Policy. The NEP 2020 focuses on the capacity building of teachers.

  • Innovative Pedagogical Approaches

To make classes more interactive, the UGC said “Proper training, Continuous development & efforts from the teachers are required to bring changes in the pedagogy.

Each student has different learning methods, therefore, the UGC has directed teachers to support students’ learning needs to adopt the same Pedagogical Approaches.

Accordingly, the Pedagogical Approaches need to be changed to develop approaches in students for understanding the core concepts, identifying problems & finding solutions, the UGC added.

The use of experimental learning, Case-based instruction, Problem-based learning, Discovery learning, and Practical Work & Integration are some of the approaches.

  • Evaluation & Assessment

As per the New Education Policy, the objective of evaluation can be described as comprehensive evaluation, learning outcome-based education & evaluation.

However, the UGC also recommends formative & competency-based assessment. It helps in developing higher-order thinking skills such as creativity & analysis.

  • Flipped Classroom

This pedagogy is based on the blended form of learning on the 21st-century skills. It makes the interaction between the students & teachers a flexible learning environment, the UGC guidelines said. Live online classes, online quizzes, pre-recorded video lectures, game-based teaching, online whiteboard, ICT tools & virtual labs.

Earlier, the UGC NET 2022 Result was declared on 5th November, 2022.
