The University Grants Commission (UGC) has entrusted the National Testing Agency (NTA) with the responsibility of administering the UGC-NET exam, which is used to determine a candidate’s eligibility for assistant professor positions in Indian universities and colleges as well as junior research fellowships.

According to the most recent information, the UGC NET Dec 2022 application will be active till January 17, 2023.

Additionally, the exam will be administered from February 21 to March 10, 2023.

Steps to Check UGC NET 2023 Eligibility Criteria

Follow the steps to check the Eligibility Criteria on the official website-

  • Visit the official website at ugcnet.nta.nic.in
  • On the homepage click on the “Information” option.
  • Select “Information Bulletin” under the same section.
  • Click on the “INFORMATION BULLETIN FOR UGC-NET DEC 2022” link.
  • A pdf will appear on the screen, go to page no. 9.
  • The UGC NET 2023 Eligibility Criteria will be displayed.

Eligibility Criteria for UGC NET 2023 for Educational Qualifications

The UGC NET Educational Qualification is as follows:

  • Candidates who have secured a minimum of 55% in a Master’s Degree or equivalent from universities/institutions recognized by UGC.
  • Candidates from the Other Backward Classes (OBC) belonging to the Non-Creamy Layer/Scheduled Caste (SC)/Scheduled Tribe (ST)/Persons with Disability (PwD)/Third gender category who have secured a minimum of 50% marks in a Master’s degree or equivalent are eligible to apply for this test.
  • Applicants who are still studying for their Master’s degree, candidates who have attempted their qualifying Master’s degree (final year) examination and whose results are still pending, or candidates whose qualifying examinations have been delayed, can all apply for this test.

The JRF’s age limit is 30 years old or younger as of the first day of the month in which the examination is completed, or 01.02.2023. There is an upper age limit for assistant professors.
