Who will conduct the GATE in 2026? Details & Exam Date Here

The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is conducted every year as a computer-based examination jointly by the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore, and seven Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) at Bombay, Delhi, Guwahati, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Madras, and Roorkee.

GATE serves as a gateway for admission into M.Tech, M.E., Ph.D. programmes at IITs, IISc, NITs, and other prestigious institutes, and is also widely used for recruitment in Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs).

For the 2026 session, as per the rotational policy, IIT Guwahati is expected to conduct the exam. Last year (2025), the GATE exam was conducted by IIT Roorkee.

The official notification for GATE 2026, including the detailed schedule, eligibility, and syllabus, will be released soon through the poster-cum-notification, followed by the information brochure.

GATE 2026 Exam Schedule

Below we have given the tentative dates for the GATE 2026 examination:

Last year, the GATE 2025 poster was released on 29th July 2024, and the information bulletin on 14th August 2024. For this session, candidates can expect the poster to be released in the last week of July 2025.

For GATE 2026, first, the authority will announce the details about the conducting body, followed by the Poster cum notification, and then the Information Bulletin. Candidates who are interested in applying for GATE are required to meet the eligibility criteria and then fill in the online application form.

GATE 2025 was held on 1st February 2025, 2nd February 2025, 15th February 2025 16th February 2025. Those whose forms will be accepted by the authority will be eligible to take the GATE 2026 examination, which will take place in February.
