The Union Education Ministry formed a 12 member panel that will draft the new national curriculum framework (NCF) for developing the guidelines for changes in the curriculum, syllabus guidelines, teaching & learning practices for school education in the country.

The National Steering Committee (NSC) will be responsible for drafting the national curriculum framework that will be headed by the National Education Policy (NEP) drafting committee chairperson K Kasturirangan.

Our country is currently following its fourth national curriculum framework that was published by the NCERT in 2005 at the time of UPA government. According to the official report the time frame for the development of the new framework is 3 years which can be expanded as per the requirement.
As per the official statement issued by the union education ministry, the National Steering Committee (NSC) will develop four curriculum frameworks that will be:
- National Curriculum Framework for School Education
- National Curriculum for Early Childhood Care and Education
- National Curriculum Framework for Teacher Education &
- National Curriculum Framework for Adult Education

According to the news published in Hindustan Times The Committee is open to receive suggestions & input from various states and Union Territories, Executive Committee (EC) and General Body (GB) of the NCERT and Central Advisory Board on Education (CABE), to streamline this process a tech platform will be set up.
“The consultation will be completely digital. The committee will take these inputs in consideration while drafting the framework. The committee will be free to invite subject experts, scholars, educationists, etc. as and when required and deliberate and decide upon the course of actions with the objective to meet the timelines of the strategy for the development of the NCF,” the official said.
The Committee will finalize the framework after receiving the suggestion from various stakeholders & keeping in mind the guidelines of the National Education Policy (NEP 2020).
The 12-member National Steering Committee (NSC) will be headed by former ISRO chief K Kasturirangan, Mahesh Chandra Pant, Chancellor of the National Institute of Educational Planning and Administration; Govind Prasad Sharma, chairman of the National Book Trust, Najma Akhtar, Vice Chancellor of Jamia Millia Islamia, TV Kattimani, Vice-Chancellor of Central Tribal University of Andhra Pradesh, MK Sridhar, who was a member of the NEP 2020 drafting committee and Jagbir Singh, Chancellor of the Central University of Punjab among others.
