Bhairavi, a native of Eravar village, had difficulty in her medical exam preparations and, according to her parents, she committed suicide because she was too nervous to take the National Eligibility and Entrance Test (NEET).

Approximately three days ago, Bhairavi consumed pesticides. She, however, remained in the same state and did not tell anyone about it. After three days, she abruptly fell unconscious. Her family took her to the Kallakurichi Government Hospital and was later transferred to Salem Government Hospital, where she passed away on Monday.
She was registered at the Athur NEET coaching center. A few days prior, she had discussed her problems with her studies with her parents. However, the report also stated that her parents encouraged her to study even harder and finish her education.
According to Aravindhan, Bhairavi’s brother, she took the NEET exam last year but was not successful. She wishes to study MBBS so that she take coaching but fails in the examination, She had also expressed frustration at her inability to understand and anxiety that this might affect her grade – he added.
She died on Monday, October 30, 2023, by suicide as a result of stress and failure-related nervousness. The police are investigating the case.
