Punjab School Winter Holidays Updates: The Chief Minister of Punjab, Bhagwat Mann has recently published a notice on their official Twitter handle regarding the schools in the state to remain closed due to extreme cold.

As per the notice, all the government and private schools in Punjab up to class 10 will remain closed from 8 January 2024 to 14 January 2024.

“Considering the extreme cold weather, it has been decided to have a holiday from January 8 to January 14 in all the government and private schools of Punjab up to class 10” reads the official statement.
Why are Punjab Schools Closed Till 14 January 2024?
From 7 January 2024, Sunday, many regions in Punjab were experiencing extreme cold waves along with morning fog which reduced visibility.
Keeping in view the comfort, health, and protection of the school-going students Chief Minister Bhagwat Mann has decided to extend the winter vacation for the schools up to the 10th class.
The minimum temperature recorded in Punjab was 5.8 degrees in the areas of Amritsar, whereas other regions such as Ludhiana, Patiala, Pathankot, Bathinda, Faridkot, and Gurdaspur are also experiencing chilly days and nights with minimum temperatures between 6 to 7 degrees.
Meanwhile, the education minister of Delhi, Atishi, has also announced the school holidays in the capital from nursery to class 5 till 12 January 2024 due to immense cold and fog in the morning.
The students and parents are suggested to contact the school authorities for any updates regarding the school holidays.
