JEE Main 2023
JEE Main is a national-level entrance exam organised by NTA for admission to undergraduate Engineering, Technology, Architecture & Planning courses. The JEE Main entrance test is conducted in two sessions i.e. in January & in April.
JEE Main score is accepted by all top government & private universities & Institutions offering admissions in UG programs of Engineering, Technology, Architecture & Planning. Some of the renowned institutions providing admission to their B.E/B.Tech programs through JEE Main scores are NIT’s, CFTI’s & all major private & state government engineering institutions.
JEE Main exam also acts as an eligibility test for appearing in JEE Advanced examination. The candidates who will qualify JEE Main exam will be eligible for appearing in JEE Advanced exam which is the gateway for admission to the IIT’s.

JEE Main Application Form
JEE Main application form for session 2 has been started by NTA from 15 February. The last date for registration & fee payment is 12 March, 2023. Candidates can apply for JEE Main by visiting the official website of JEE Main (jeemain.nta.nic.in) on or before 12 March, 2023.
Candidates who have registered for JEE Main session 1 need not to register again and they can directly fill the application form for session 2 by login with their previous application number & password as provided in session 1.
Interested candidates can apply for JEE Main session 2 only through online mode by visiting the official website. During registration, candidates must carefully fill their details and upload scanned images & documents as per the correct format & specification.
JEE Main Application Fees
The JEE Main application fee is given below:

JEE Main 2023 Eligibility Criteria
JEE Main aspirants must check all the eligibility conditions as prescribed by the National Testing Agency (NTA). It is mandatory for candidates to meet all the eligibility requirements as laid down by the JEE Apex board for appearing in the JEE Main examination.
Age Limit – There is no age limit to appear for JEE Main
Educational Qualification – Candidates must be appearing in class 12th or equivalent examination in 2023 or must have passed 12th or equivalent examination in 2021 or 2022.
Compulsory subjects –
For BE/BTech – Physics & Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with Biology, Chemistry, Biotechnology or any other technical vocational as optional subject
For B.Arch – Mathematics is a compulsory subject.
For B.Plan – Physics, Mathematics & Chemistry as compulsory subjects.
Attempt Limit – Candidates can appear in the exam in three consecutive years from the year of passing class 12
Percentage in class 12th – No minimum percentage is required to appear in JEE Main. However, for admission to IITs, NITs & CFTIs 75% is required for UR and 65% for SC/ST category.
Steps to Apply in JEE Main exam
The step by step application process to apply for JEE Main is given below:
- Visit the official website (jeemain.nta.nic.in)
- Click on “online application form for JEE Main session 2”
- If you have applied for session 1 then login with “application no” & “password”, otherwise click on “new registration”
- Read all the instructions carefully and start your registration by filing “personal” & “communication” details.
- In the next step “choose a password” and submit & review your filled data after verifying your mobile number.
- Next step is “application form” complete your application form by filling other details like Aadhar, exam center, medium of question paper, qualification, documents upload & emergency contact details etc.
- In the next step, review & final submit your filled application form.
- In the last step “pay the application fee” and take the printout of the filled application form.
JEE Main Exam Pattern
The complete examination pattern for JEE Main 2023 is given below:
Mode of Exam – CBT mode, except Paper 2 (A) drawing test will be pen-paper based.
Number of Papers – There will be 2 papers – JEE Main – Paper I for B.E/ B.Tech & Paper 2A/ 2B for B.Arch/ B.Plan.
Time duration – 3 hours (4 hours in case of PWD)
Questions Type – Objective-type questions will be asked, Paper 2 will be subjective in nature.
No. of questions – 90 questions in Paper I (B.Tech/B.E) & 82 in Paper II A (B.Arch) and 105 questions in Paper II B (B.Plan).
Maximum Marks – Paper 1 will consist of 300 marks, Paper II A & Paper II B will consists of 400 marks
Marking Scheme – +4 for correct answer, -1 for incorrect answer, no marks for unattempted question.

JEE Main 2023 Admit Card
JEE Main admit card will be made available through online mode. The admit card for JEE Main session 2 exams will be made available in the 3rd week of March.
It is important for all the JEE aspirants to read all the instructions printed on the admit card.
Candidates must bring their admit card at the examination venue for verification and entry to the examination hall. Candidates must also bring a valid Id proof and passport size photographs for verification.
JEE Main 2023 Result
JEE Main result for session 1 exams has been declared on 6 February. Candidates can check their result by visiting the official website of JEE Main and entering their login details.
The authority will not entertain any request relating to revaluation or re-checking of results. If candidates find any mistake or discrepancy in their result data they must report to the NTA officials.

JEE Main Participating Institutions
Candidates after qualifying JEE Main exam are eligible to appear in the JOSAA counseling. Through JOSAA counseling many top engineering & architecture institutes provide admission to their UG engineering, architecture and planning programs.
JEE Main Participating Institutions participate in the JOSAA counseling for providing admission to their B.E/B.Tech, B.Arch and B.Plan courses.
