NMC Invalidates All MBBS Admissions After September 30, Issues Official Notice

“Stakeholders, including central authorities, state authorities, and medical colleges are directed to strictly adhere to the counselling schedule set by the National Medical Commission for the academic session 2023–2024 for UG MBBS courses, any counselling after the prescribed schedule will be deemed invalid. Students admitted through such counselling will be discharged immediately,” said the NMC’s official announcement on October 19, 2023.

As per the NMC official notice regarding illegal counselling the decision to invalidate such admission was made when NMC discovered that UG MBBS counselling sessions had been conducted in states like Bihar, Maharashtra, and West Bengal after the NEET UG 2023 counselling cut-off date, in both online and offline mode. 

The NEET UG 2023 cutoff date was set by the NMC for September 30, 2023.

The commission also stated that any admission or counselling activity after the cutoff date will violate the NMC notification and Supreme Court’s order.

Although the actual number of students who could be affected by this decision could be more than 500, whereas there are still a large number of open vacant MBBS seats in both government-run and independently funded medical colleges all around the nation.
