The Chief Minister of Assam Himanta Biswa Sarma has decided to initiate a transformative program that aims to boost the education system in schools, empower women entrepreneurs, and improve infrastructure statewide.

Chief Minister added during the meeting that the Assam schools will be introduced with six tribal languages which will be used as a medium of instruction (MOI) by the teachers. 

6 Languages Which Assam is Introducing as Medium of Instruction

To preserve tribal people’s interests and under the National Education Policy of 2020, the Assam government has planned to introduce six tribal languages as mediums of instruction at the foundational stage of school education.

Himanta Biswa Sarma, Assam’s chief minister, stated that six tribal languages namely Mising, Rabha, Karbi, Tiwa, Deori, and Dimasa will be acquainted in the school textbooks at the foundational stage of education.

In order to preserve the culture and heritage of the tribal community of India along with facilitating their educational advancement the government has come up with such an initiative.

The state cabinet also approved the Assam Official Language Bill 2024 to recognize Manipuri as an Associate Official Language in four districts of the state i.e. Cachar, Karimganj, Hailakandi, and Hojai.  

Along with this, the government will also authorize women entrepreneurs by providing them with financial support to open their own enterprises or business ventures. 

“To aid rural women entrepreneurs and boost the rural economy, 1000 crore endorsed to “Mega Mission Society Chief Minister Samagra Gramya Unnayan Yojana (MMS CMSGUY) out of the allocated budget,” said Chief Minister Biswa.
