CUET UG 2024 Latest Updates: “The University Grants Commission (UGC) wants to be a facilitator, not a regulator to reform the higher education system of the country”, stated the chairman of UGC Mr. Jagadesh Kumar, on Friday.

The chairman of UGC made the announcement after an incident came to light that to get admission to the top universities of the country, seven times as many students from Jammu and Kashmir took the Common University Entrance Test-Undergraduate (CUET-UG) last year.

While the facilitators of the CUET UG exam 2023 do not have proper and optimum exam centres to conduct the exams for a large number of students of Jammu and Kashmir.

Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha raised an issue of the lack of the CUET UG 2023 exam centres with the union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan, saying various candidates were allotted centres that were over 300 km away.

UGC’s chairman Jagadesh Kumar in the national NEP conference, further stated that “UGC does not want to be a regulator, but rather a facilitator, working with stakeholders to bring about transformation in higher education through the implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.

Major Changes Adopted BY UGC In The Exam & Education System

The purpose of the NEP’s conference in IIM Jammu was to held discuss, how to implement the National Education Policy in Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh’s higher education institutions.

Speaking about earlier CUET UG issues, Kumar stated, “Some students had concerns about the NEP, but those have been resolved by the commission.

The CUET UG 2024 will focus on some changes from 2024 onwards in which the conduct of the examination in a hybrid mode was confirmed by the officials.

To address the issues of students, the UGC chairman recommended the creation of grievance redressal committees and administrators in colleges and universities.

More than 400 academics and policymakers from higher education institutions, including vice chancellors, deans, principals, and department directors attended the conference. The participants were divided into groups of ten and held sessions to discuss particular areas of emphasis for NEP 2020 implementation.

Kumar said that the Central Board of School Education (CBSE) is also introducing reforms by introducing vocational training programs in the academic courses of the students, the first phase of these programs covers classes 9 to 12 followed by a second phase covering classes 6 and above.
