This decision has been made after the meeting held under the Chairmanship of LU Vice-Chancellor Professor, Alok Kumar Rai.

Earlier, the UGC approved the rules to offer joint & dual programmes & twinning programmes by the Indian & Foreign Higher Education Institutions.

However, the institutions which provide courses online or in distance mode will not be allowed to offer dual programmes.

“The dual degree programmes can be offered by any Indian Institution accredited by the National Assessment & NAAC with a minimum score of 3.01 or in the Top 100 in the NIRF (National Institutional Ranking Framework).

Also, an Institution of Eminence can collaborate with any foreign institution in the Top 500 of the Times Higher Education or QS World University ranking, without seeking any prior approval from the UGC”, according to UGC Chairman Jagadeesh Kumaar.

Candidates can apply for two full-time academic courses through offline mode provided that the timing of one programme doesn’t match the timing of other programmes.

However, candidates can also pursue one programme full-time with another through online or distance learning mode.

On the other hand, the Chairman stated that students will now be allowed to pursue two full-time academic courses simultaneously either at the same university or two different universities.
