NEET PG 2024: MCC Debars 242 Medical students for One Year After Failing to Join College in 2023

The security amount worth Rs 1.21 crore is forfeited by the authority as the aspirants fails to take their seats during the NEET PG counselling 2023.

NEET PG 2024 Latest Updates: The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) through the RTI revealed that as many as 242 medical aspirants were not allowed to participate in the NEET-PG 2024 examination which is scheduled to be held on 7 July 2024.

The MCC through the RTI stated, “During the counselling process of the NEET PG 2023 exam, a lot of seats were allotted to the candidates in the special stray vacancy round out of which a total of 242 candidates failed to report to the college”.

Whereas, according to the MCC guidelines, “If a candidate has participated in special stray vacancy round of the NEET PG counselling and has been allotted a seat & fails to report to the allotted college. Such candidates will be debarred from participating in upcoming NEET-PG examination & counselling.”

RTI also said that the security amount of Rs 50,000 per aspirant was also paid by them during the registration process of the special stray vacancy round of the NEET PG counselling 2023 amounting to Rs 1,21,00,000 was also forfeited by the authority.

Along with this, the data of the previous year has also come to light that around 127 candidates from session 2022 of the NEET PG exam were also debarred from taking the NEET PG 2023 exam for the same reason, and a total amount of Rs 63,50,000 was collected.

In response to this, health activist Dr. Vivek Pandey express his concern that excluding students from taking the upcoming NEET PG 2024 exam and counselling sessions results in a huge loss of an academic year, causing distress among the candidates.

In addition, he stated that it is permissible for the government to impose fines as a punitive measure, such penalties must be reasonable for the individuals concerned. However, denying students from taking the exam directly violates their fundamental right to education.
