The NMC has recently announced that colleges and institutions that were unable to apply for the establishment of new medical colleges or an increase in MBBS seats due to the 100 MBBS seats per 10 lakh population requirement can now do so. However, these colleges must meet other conditions to be eligible.

The stakeholders must submit the application fee to the National Medical Commission’s secretary at Pocket 14, Sector 8, Dwarka, New Delhi 110077, including 18% GST.
As per a previous circular released by the commission, stakeholders can now obtain a letter of permission under Chapter 1 of the ‘guidelines for undergraduate courses under the establishment of new medical institutions, the starting of new medical courses, an increase of seats for existing courses and assessment and rating regulations, 2023’.

- Go to the official website at nmc.org.in
- Click on the “Submission of Online Application for MBBS courses for Academic Year 2024-25”.
- Now go to the “Application for Establishment of New Medical Colleges for AY 2024-25”.
- A new page will appear fill out the information and click on the register now.
- Download the application and click on the submit button.
- Save the same for future reference.
NMC Reopens Application Portal For New Medical Colleges Direct Link (Active)
The National Medical Commission (NMC) and UGMEB have decided to implement new guidelines for the ratio of 100 MBBS seats per 10 lakh population in states from the academic year 2025-26.
The new medical colleges can have a maximum of 150 MBBS seats on the condition that the institute follows the ratio of 100 MBBS seats for every 10 lakh population in the state. The National Medical Commission (NMC) had postponed these rules as per an official notice dated November 15, 2023.
Furthermore, the NMC had also stated that hospitals must have at least 220 beds and be situated within a maximum travel time of 30 minutes from the medical college.
