The bandh that has been declared for August 9 across the nation and in the Punjab has received the complete support of the Communist Coordination Committee (CCC), which was formed up of the Revolutionary Marxist Party of India (RMPI) and the Marxist Communist Party of India-United (MCPI-U).
According to the information provided by News 18, “the Dalit and Christian community held a press conference along with the Press Club of Jalandhar and formed the Manipur Insaf Morcha, as well as announced a state bandh.”
What is Bandh Movement?
The ethnic unrest that started on May 3 in Manipur is part of a larger, continuing issue that has led to the bandh movement. After a “Tribal Solidarity March,” organised by hill districts to oppose the Meitei community’s demand for Scheduled Tribe (ST) designation, there was violence. The request for a bandh reverberates as a forceful cry for justice and greater awareness in light of the more than 160 dead and innumerable injuries.
The movement will take place on August 9 from 9 am to 5 pm, according to Surjit Thapar, the organisation’s president.
