Madhya Pradesh Schools Latest Updates: Madhya Pradesh education minister Mr Uday Pratap Singh on Thursday, 22 February 2024 asked all the private and government-owned schools of the state to follow a ‘bagless day’ once a week for students of all classes.

According to the government’s regulations, students from grades 1 to 12 will be directed to carry backpacks of a weight announced by the school administration committee. This decision is taken to reduce the stress of students studying in all government and private schools throughout the state.

The minister further stated that “a bagless school day allows students to enjoy themselves by playing games, participating in sports, cultural programs, music, and other things. Students should be kept engaged in school so that it is not a source of worry for them, but rather a source of joy”.
Meanwhile, the state government has also issued a notice regarding the weight limits for students’ bags based on their classes and streams and also stated that the schools are not allowed to give homework to students from pre-primary classes to class 2.

In view of the upcoming educational session 2024-25, the Madhya Pradesh school education department has asked all schools to carefully observe the “School Bag Policy 2020” formed by the Indian Government under the National Education Policy.
