CSBE Clarification On Dating And Relationships Chapters, Says it is baseless and Incorrect

A viral tweet claims to be from a Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) recommended book for Class 9 “value education” and includes images of a chapter on “Dating and Relationships” a topic of discussion from a few days ago.

The Central Board of Higher Education has on 2 February 2024 released a tweet on the CBSE HQ account @cbseindia29 regarding the CBSE Class 9 chapter on dating and relationships via tweet on 2nd February 2024.

In response to the allegations, the CBSE board denied that it publishes books and stated that certain news reports are incorrectly identifying some books as CBSE publications.

CBSE has tweeted that “A section of the media is wrongly attributing a book to be a publication of CBSE containing objectionable material on dating and relationships according to the reports. This is totally baseless and incorrect. The contents of the chapter which are going viral on Social Media are in fact from a book titled A Guide to Self Awareness and Empowerment written by Gagan Deep Kaur and Published by G Ram Books (P) Ltd. Educational Publishers. The CBSE neither publishes any books nor recommends books of any private publishers.”

Users are also commenting on the images featuring a chapter titled ‘Dating and Relationships, one such user on X wrote, “Is this for real?” Responding to the images from the Class 9 book, Tinder India wrote, “next chapter: how to deal with breakups” carrying a crying smiley”.
