However, she went ahead with her task. She stated to the PTI that “ I observed in the survey that none of the children from the Kalabaj community go to the schools and instead of going to the schools, they help their families in begging for their livelihood”.

She also added “ I have also faced resistance from the elders of the Kalabaj community in my efforts to enroll their children in schools.

Sita Trivedi said that she often went to the Kalabaj community to encourage the parents & guardians of the community to send their children to the schools.

After telling several stories about education and its importance, the Kalabaj nomadic community supported her and began to send their children to the schools.

She said, “40 children of the Kalabaj community are successfully enrolled in a school”. But the problem was not solved yet, as she noticed that some of the children of other communities were not ready to accept them and the children from the Kalabaj community were facing discrimination by them.

Sita Trivedi then talked with the parents of the children and requested them to talk with their wards. The problem was resolved shortly with the support of the parents of the other community.

The District Magistrate Umesh Pratap also appreciated the efforts of the teacher and commented that “ I hope these children will move forward and get well educated”.
