“Young individuals who are well prepared for their examinations face injustice due to such unfair practices”, Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh mentioned while debating on the bill in Lok Sabha. 

“This is beyond politics and will deal with the concerns of sons and daughters. The law is only for those who try to tamper with the system,” Jitendra Singh added while mentioning the paper leak case in West Bengal, Rajasthan, and Jammu & Kashmir.

Objectives of the Public Exam Prevention of Unfair Means Bill 2024

The Prevention of Unfair Means Bill 2024 for public examination aims to target mafia elements, organized gangs, and malpractices while ensuring that innocent students are not getting affected by such activities. 

If any candidate, institution, or any government official is found indulging in any kind of malpractice in the public examinations such as paper leaking, will be punished immediately. 

The Constitution of High-Level and National Technical Committee will inspect the exam centers and make sure that all the computerized exams are been conducted fairly. 

The main objective of this bill is to develop protocols to safeguard digital platforms, foolproof security systems, and electronic surveillance, and formulate national standards for both IT and physical infrastructure in the competitive examinations. 

Through the Prevention of Unfair Means Bill 2024 the government will prevent fraudulent behaviour such as impersonation and paper leaks in exams and will punish the tricker with a maximum of 10 years in prison and up to 1 crore fine.
