B.Tech Student Dies In Kota: A B.tech student committed suicide in Kota by hanging himself in his room. As per the police investigation the boy was pursuing his under-graduation from Jalandhar, Punjab. He was suffering from depression, said police.

The mishap occurred in Ambedkar Nagar on Sunday 18 Feb 2024. The body was returned to the family on Monday 19 Feb 2024 after a post-mortem.

On Saturday, his family members went to Lucknow to attend a wedding, leaving the deceased at home alone. Before committing suicide, the student called his father and said “Papa, I am fed up with life.”

After some time, when his family members contacted him back, he did not answer. The family later called a neighbour, who confirmed that their son was not opening the door.

“I quickly left Lucknow with my wife and arrived in Kota at 6 p.m. on Sunday. When I got home, I saw Rohit hanging in his room. “The police rushed him to MBS Hospital, where the doctor declared him dead,” said Rajesh Mathur, the deceased’s father.

Police Statements On The Incident

Sub-inspector Rajaram of Kunhadi police station, said, “The family lives in Ambedkar Nagar.” He was mentally depressed and had been in treatment for the past two to three years”.

As per Times Now news, the deceased was Rohit Mathur 23 years old, the oldest son, who was pursuing a B.Tech from Jalandhar. On Saturday, his parents travelled to Lucknow to attend a relative’s wedding. Rohit was alone in the house.

“He called his father around 4 a.m. on Sunday and told him he was fed up with his life. After a few minutes, his father called him back, but he did not answer.”

His father then contacted a neighbour, who went to the house and called Rohit multiple times, but he did not answer the door.

Kota, a coaching hub, has reported an increase in suicide incidents, primarily by JEE Main and NEET aspirants, for the past few years.
