CCPA Guidelines For Coaching Institutes: On 9 January 2024, Wednesday the Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA) came up with a draft for the misleading guidelines by the coaching institutes.

The authority has mentioned that no online/offline coaching classes should make an oath on a candidate’s success or selection in any field.

“Coaching institutes shall not claim 100% success of 100% job pledge”, reads the official notice released by the Ministry of Consumer Affairs. 

Also, the authority has made available instructions on false advertisement using as bait saying “For Free” or “without charges” when the applicant has to pay for it. 

CCPA Guidelines For Misleading Advertisement 

Here we have provided the instructions set by the authorities for the institutes making fake amendments with the students: 

  • The advertisement should contain truthful and fair representation. 
  • Coaching institutes should not mislead the candidates about the risk to their security and their families if they fail to purchase the goods or services. 
  •  An advertisement shall be considered to be a surrogate advertisement or indirect advertisement if it indicates or suggests directly or indirectly to consumers that it is an advertisement for the goods, product, or service whose advertising is prohibited or restricted by law. 
  • Using any brand name, logo, color, layout, and presentation associated with such goods whose advertisement is prohibited or restricted will come under surrogate means. 
  • Do not describe any goods, product, or service to be ‘free’, ‘without charge’, or use such other terms if the consumer has to pay anything other than the unavoidable cost. 
  • Avoid exaggerating the features of services in such a manner as to lead children to have unrealistic expectations. 
  • Use words such as ‘just’ or ‘only’ to make the price seem less expensive where such advertisement includes additional cost or charge. 
  • Do not develop negative body image in children or give any impression that the product is better than the natural or traditional food that children may be consuming.
