The announcement was made following a letter written by Asaduddin Owaisi, the AIMIM chief and Hyderabad MP, to Rao (also known as KCR) and Union Home Minister Amit Shah. Owaisi requested that the day be named ‘National Integration Day’ instead of ‘Hyderabad Liberation Day’, and provided an explanation for his suggestion.

The ruling Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) has taken the lead in organizing these celebrations, with party working president K.T. Rama Rao urging party members to arrange events across the state.

Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao is expected to participate in the main event in Hyderabad, while government ministers will hoist the national flag in all district headquarters as part of the festivities.

As the preparations for the significant day are underway, there have been criticisms of certain political parties trying to politicize the event for their own agendas. K.T. Rama Rao expressed concern about such attempts and cautioned against linking religion to the celebration or using it to divide society.

Rama Rao emphasized that National Integration Day should be a unifying occasion for all Telangana citizens, regardless of their political affiliations. He urged the people of Telangana to oppose any attempts to manipulate the historical importance of this day for selfish political motives.
